Mirza Asadullah Khan (Ghalib)-27-12-1797(Agra) To 15-02-1869 (Delhi)
Interpretation-Ghazal-32
1.
If I did not weep, then the house would be a desert,
And because of my weeping,it is becoming a sea.
(Ill fortune never under any circumstances refrains from manifesting itself.)
(Neither my home nor the sea would ever be a place where people could live.)
2.
If the heart remains sad, then why to complain,it is such an enemy of peace,
That if it were happy, then it would be anxious for the absence of anxiety and difficulty.
(I am so unfortunate that if the heart was happy, then it would be so happy that the excess of happiness would be torn apart the heart.)
3.
After a lifetime of worship, I have not got the access to the beloved's house,
If only the doorkeeper were Rizwan (Guard Of Paradise), it could have been hoped that he would not have prevented me from entering.
(Rizwan has at least this much to be said for me, that after a whole lifetime of worship, he allows one to enter Paradise.)
(The point is that entry to Paradise is possible, but access to the beloved's house is impossible.)
(The God is more fair minded and approachable than the beloved.
